Call for Abstracts

The Organising Committee invite abstracts for oral and poster presentations for the
2025 XII International Rangelands Congress, to be held in Adelaide, Australia. 

THEMES

The theme of the Congress is ‘Working Together for our Global Rangelands Future’.

Abstracts are encouraged to address one of the following subthemes:

  1. Valuing rangelands and pastoral systems for their societal contribution
  2. Co-design, partnerships, and incorporating traditional knowledge for more enduring rangeland outcomes
  3. Technology, information systems, communication, and big data to aid monitoring and decision making
  4. Integrating rangeland ecology into management
  5. Managing risk – climate and other system shocks and trends
  6. Livestock production systems in a world of changing drivers
  7. Multi-functional land use in rangelands – moving beyond niche opportunities

GENERAL GUIDANCE ON PREPARATION OF ABSTRACTS

  • All abstracts must be submitted via the online submission portal: access portal here
  • Abstract submissions should include:
    I.       title, author name(s), and affiliation(s) of author(s)
    II.     in a maximum of 300 words, succinctly capture the key points which you wish to share at the conference
    III.   use clear and concise language with minimal jargon
    IV.   be on a topic relevant to rangelands and the congress themes
    V.    use the Abstract Submission Template by downloading and completing for the submission
  • The official language of the International Rangeland Congress is English – all abstract and paper submissions must be written in English.
  • A maximum of two (2) abstracts will be accepted from any one corresponding/lead author
  • All offered abstracts will be peer-reviewed by experts. The selection criteria will include:
    I.     Relevance to the congress theme and sessions
    II.    Significance of information and contribution to current state of knowledge
    III.  Originality and novelty
    IV.   Clarity of expression
  • All authors of accepted abstracts are required to submit a full paper (3-4 pages) for their presentation, for publication in the conference proceedings. Guidance on paper submission will be provided after abstract acceptance.
  • If you require early acceptance of your abstract and/or delegate support to attend the conference, please indicate this by selecting these options on submission of your abstract through the portal

Call for abstracts open 31 October 2023
Call of abstracts close 2 June 2024
Authors notification of acceptance 31 July 2024
Full Paper submission closes 2 December 2024
Congress proceedings published 2 June 2025
Congress dates 2 – 6 June 2025

PRESENTATION FORMAT

Authors must indicate their preferred form of presentation at time of submission:

  • Oral presentation: 12 minutes plus 3 minutes for questions
  • Lightning oral presentation: 3 min plus 2 minutes for questions
  • Poster Presentation (posters will be displayed throughout the conference and dedicated end-of-day sessions)

 The Editorial Committee retains the right to decide which format the abstract is most suited.  Presenting authors, both Oral and Poster, will receive detailed instruction about congress facilities, requirements and appropriate guidelines for presentations prior to the congress.
